Following representation on behalf of the Residents of Ardfield as to the current status of the Taking in Charge of their Estate, Council have informed me that the Developer (John J Fleming Construction – in Receivership) continues to be responsible for the Development and its completion. The Developer has informed the Council in the last few weeks that they (with receivers)are in discussions with the bond providers with a view to getting Developments completed and progressing taking-in-charge. Minister Jan O Sullivan published a report in relation to the progress with ‘ghost estates’ and while I wouldnt classify Ardfield as a ghost estate, I contend that publishing report is fine and dandy but in my experience the problem has only progressed in writing as I see very little improvement at micro level. From a local level its impossible to get action out of Nama and I can only get movement by asking Ministers to make queries on my behalf and on behalf of the people I represent. Not good enough.
