I have just received copy of the most recent funding allocations from Minister Leo Veradkar’s department for roads in County Cork via our local Minister Simon Coveney TD. I am particularly delighted with the Clarke’s Hill / Moneygourney allocation and would like to thank both Ministers as I know this will make a great improvement to our local area.  Many of you will be aware that the Foxwood to Maryborough Hill phase is now almost complete and the project is a credit to the building firm, our in house design team and the Senior Executive.

I must pay tribute to the Council’s officials whose focus was to identify funding streams and liaise constantly with the department officials.  Of course, the real delight to me is to see lots more people walking and jogging the Maryborough Hill  Moneygrouney  Clarke’s Hill loop.  As soon as I have details of the Clarke’s Hill project I will publish but have no doubt about it the 600,000 euro allocated will further make a huge improvement to the area.  The 91,000 for works associated with the Carrigaline Western Relief Road is also very welcome also as is the 80,000 for the Kinsale Road Bridge which will eliminate the chronic flooding that that area has suffered for many years.  In addition, the 150,000 for the Cork Technology Park, Bishopstown (Design Stage) indicates the ongoing commitment to keeping this on track.
