Notice is hereby given that Cork County Council is
considering, pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993,the temporary closure of the following road to public traffic
from Monday, 8th April 2013 at 20.00hrs to Friday, 3rd Mayat 20.00hrs, in order to facilitate the completion of road
realignment works on a section of the N72 NationalSecondary Road between Mallow and Fermoy.
Road to be closed:
The N72 between Oliver’s Cross (junction of N72/N73)
and Monanimy Cross (junction of N72/L1226 and L1227).
Alternative Routes:
Traffic travelling from Mallow to Fermoy will be diverted off
the N72 at Oliver’s Cross Roads onto the N73 to
Mitchelstown via Kildorrery. Traffic will then follow the
R639 south to Fermoy.
Traffic travelling from Fermoy to Mallow will be diverted
north along the R639 to Mitchelstown. Traffic will then
follow the N73 to Mallow via Kildorrery, rejoining the N72
at Oliver’s Cross Roads.
Traffic travelling from Mallow to Castletownroche and
Ballyhooly will be diverted along the N73 at Oliver’s Cross
Roads as far as Skenakilla Cross. From here traffic will be
directed along the local road L1229 towards
Castletownroche and Ballyhooly via the N72.
Traffic travelling from both Ballyhooly and Castletownroche
towards Mallow will be directed along the local road L1229
from Castletownroche to the N73 at Skenakilla. From there
traffic will use the N73 and N72 to Mallow.
Traffic travelling from Mallow to Killavullen will be directed
along the N73 onto the L1223 local road at Skenakilla
Cross.
All local traffic east of Monanimy Cross Roads travelling in
the direction of Mallow shall be directed north via
Skenakilla Crossroads towards the N73 and use the N73
and N72 for Mallow.
Local access will be maintained for residents and
businesses.
Any person interested may lodge an objection, in writing,
with the undersigned not later than Thursday, 28th March
2013.
