Cork County Council are continuing to in the development of a Sustainable Transport Strategy for the N28 Corridor.
The first stage of this process is to undertake an update of the CASP transport model to extend along the N28 corridor. The N28 is heavily used by commuters to the major employers in Ringaskiddy with significant peak hour congestion at Shannonpark and Shanbally in particular. In addition to this, there are little or no public transport options to Ringaskiddy from Cork City or Carrigaline. This study will develop a model of the N28 Corridor to assess proposals which are planned to address these issues and make the N28 Corridor more sustainable.
The completion of this model shall feed into the development of the Sustainable Transport Strategy for the area and it is intended also to develop an Area Wide Mobility Management Plan for the area.
Attached is an Inception report for the CASP Model Update for the N28 which has recently commenced. Updates on this project shall be given through the Area Committee Meetings.
