Presidential Election

Have been out over the last few nights canvassing, people very polite at door but mostly saying they hav’nt made up their minds.  Television exposure and debates will decide.  Interestingly, people are saying they know def who they are not going to vote for but havent decided their preferences yet.  Gay has a battle but as the saying goes ‘it aint over til the fat lady sings’

Presidential Nomination

This morning we had a proposal to put Senator David Norris on the ticket for the Presidental race.  I thought long and hard about the matter and did my best to consult locally before casting my vote.  I know that there will be divided views and that I wont please everybody but I made my decision based on my own experience, the views that were expressed to me in the best interests of all concerned.  I print my speech below .

“My decision has nothing to do with Sexual orientation/religion/age/ or political expediency.  I have always thought Sen Norris an able performer in his duties and interests.

The Presidency of our Country, to my mind, must represent the highest ideals, and at all times his or her actions should subjugate their own ego to actions which mirror or reflect the ethos and ideals aspired to by the Irish people.  He or she must reflect the very DNA of the Irish People.  I cannot believe a call for clemency for the perpetrator of statutory rape is in the DNA of the Irish people.

If their actions cause the value of the highest office into question then they should not be in such a position.
