Rochestown Road Traffic Update

The pressure and volume of traffic on the Rochestown Road has been a cause of much gnashing of teeth and under breath comments from parents anxious to get the kids to school and commuters coming from Passage West Carrigaline.  Many have contacted me over the years complaining with due cause about the 30 min delays in getting into Douglas to work, drop the children to schools or access into City or the East and West.

We have initiated the Douglas LUTS project (Land Use and Transportation Study) which will look at medium and long term strategies for solving our lack of infrastructure or at least improving it.  One of the immediate and short term solutions is to change the junction at St Patrick’s Church Roundabout and also the Clarke’s Hill Junction.

70,000 euros has been allocated to upgrade and widen these junctionser lane which could go straight to Douglas, currently motorists who wish to go right to the link Road must wait to leave traffic coming from Douglas off and therefore delay people who wish to go straight into Douglas from Clarke’s Hill or Passage West.
