N25 Bandon/Sarsfield Interchanges Upgrade Progress Update Wednesday 5th October 2011 Earthworks are progressing well both in the area west of the Bandon Road Roundabout and in the Bandon Road Roundabout centre island itself and these works will continue for a number of weeks. Resurfacing in Pinecroft, Montpellier Road

Many irate residents have contacted me in relation to the delay in carrying out resurfacing works in Pinecroft, and Montpellier Road.  I want to assure them that both the Eng and I have had many discussions in relation to the matter.  Unfortunately the selected tenderer had to opt out due to difficulties at their end.  I print below the Engineer’s update and wish to assure residents that every effort will be made to try and have the work done as soon as humanly possible.

I attach letter received, for your information.  The letter confirms that the contractor originally awarded the contract, has only pulled out 2 days ago.  I have been in touch with the next qualified tenderer, who has given a start date of 5^th September, 2011.  I have pleaded with him for an earlier date, and explained the circumstances.  He is to revert next week.
